A Louisiana Christmas
To be merry, or not to be?
Louisiana has had a rough year. Local tragedies and devastating floods have ravaged our lives and routines. This time of year, it's common to fall into the flow of family gatherings, shopping, and decking the halls. But, with a year like we've had, is it possible to jump back into "the norm"?
In many ways, probably not.
However, Louisiana is well acquainted with being knocked down and responding with "let's figure out how to get back on our feet."
Louisiana is strong, we are a resilient people.
After the most recent flooding, we have had many come in ready to redo and rebuild. The common attitude has been one of hope - giving up and moving on isn't even mentioned.
While the process may be a lengthy one and the to-do lists longer than most of us want to admit, we surely will come back. We will rebuild and celebrate the way we usually do - around pots of something yummy and with those we love.
So, lovely people of Louisiana, this year we can make merry, because we have each other, and there truly is no other place like this.
Let's celebrate who we are. This year we will pay homage to our great state and have a good ole Louisiana Christmas!
